Sin
God and Evil
John says of the Word, God in the flesh (John 1:14) or Jesus, that “all things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3). If evil is a thing, did he also create evil? Could evil possibly come from God?
Consequences of Sin-2
In our last lesson, we studied on the consequences of sin. Humanity was alienated from God. Yet, in his great love for us, God has offered a way of salvation (John 3:16).
Consequences of Sin
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Rom. 5:12).
Can a Leopard change its Spots?
The practice of sin can become so habitual that it becomes exceeding difficult to change the pattern. It would be easier for a leopard to change his spots. This reminds us of Peter referring to the false prophets who could not “cease from sin” (1 Peter 2:14).
Cain
“if a man say, ‘I love God’, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen” (1 Jn. 4:20; cf. 3:12, 13)?
Solomon wrote, “Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy” (Prov. 27:4)?
Sexual Immorality
God’s law is against fornicators (1 Tim. 1:9-11). Adulterers and fornicators God will judge (Heb. 13:4).
